What is Ho'oponopono?

or the power of words

I learned something again. Do you know what Ho'ponopono is?
After looking it up, here's what I learned:
"Ho'oponopono (ho-o-pono-pono) is a problem-solving method of Hawaiian-originated healing arts using the tools of forgiveness and reconciliation. It is a philosophy of life through which we can correct and then transfer to the superconscious mind for erasure the memories and programs we have inherited and that have been stored in our subconscious mind. Originally, Native Hawaiians used this ritual in their daily lives by gathering extended families together, everyone apologizing to everyone else, thus creating peace within themselves. The process consists of apology, repentance and transformation. Everything that appears in life as a problem is a memory, a program that can be corrected, can be made good, and can be erased. In this way it can be used to resolve physical, spiritual, mental, emotional and spiritual problems, family, relationship or community conflicts. " (Wikipedia)
Ho'oponopono is a word of Hawaiian origin, meaning to correct, to make right. I think we would all know who to apologise to and have plenty to erase. In many cases it is difficult to say the words thank you, I love you, I forgive you. We can carry a hurt inside us for years, decades, and even though we think it was a long time ago, it still works in us and shapes our behaviour and attitudes. Words can cause deep and long-lasting hurts that can go unseen to great depths. But these wounds can be resolved with words, we just need to know how to live with them. I wonder how to practice Ho'oponopono well.
If you have experience, share it with me in the comments.
